Bodrum Castle

For centuries, Bodrum Castle has stood on a piece of land that extends towards the sea, with admirable architecture. The castle, built by the Knights of St John in 1402, served as a defensive point. It now transports visitors to the past with its thick walls, ramparts, and historical textures. The castle houses an Underwater Archaeological Museum.

Mausoleum of Halicarnassus

One of Bodrum's most famous historical sites is the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Mausolus, a powerful Persian ruler, ordered its construction in 350 BC. The mausoleum, one of the most impressive of its time, influenced monumental tomb architecture. Over centuries, earthquakes destroyed the structure, leaving only stone. The Mausoleion Memorial Museum is located in the structure's ruins.

Estimated to have been constructed in the 4th century BC, Bodrum Ancient Theatre survived the Roman era. The sole ancient theatre in Bodrum, the building has 13 thousand capacity stairs. The theatre with sea view presents its patrons with a cultural and historical encounter.

Bodrum Underwater Archeological Museum 

Bodrum Castle houses Bodrum Underwater Archaeological Museum. The museum boasts the richest Eastern Mediterranean Amphora Collection worldwide and won the "Special Commendation" award in the European Museum of the Year contest in 1995. The museum also features significant objects including the Islamic Glass Collection, the oldest sunken shipwreck worldwide, and the Serçe Harbour Shipwrecks.
