Tradition

Throughout Antalya, you can find crafts that have been passed down through generations for centuries. Each craft, whether made for hobby or commercial purposes, reflects the region's traditions. To help preserve these crafts and support the local community, consider buying handmade items.

Antalya

Weaving

In Antalya, carpets woven with local patterns commonly use the “weft-faced and sparse motif cicim” technique. The base uses uniform threads, while thicker threads create a raised effect in the patterns. Handwoven cicim prayer rugs are prime examples of this technique. Besides fine kilims, this weaving method is also applied to other products like carpet cushions, bags, saddlebags, sacks and pouches.
